Silva Sweden AB works actively with environmental- and quality issues throughout the whole chain from product development and selection of distributors, to disposal.
Silva Sweden AB follows reigning environmental laws and rules, follows the development regarding REACH, and continuously reports to the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency.
Silva Sweden AB is also connected to REPA, which is the business world’s solution to the producer responsibility for packages made of plastic, metal, paper/carton and corrugated cardboard.
The EU directive relating to waste disposal of electrical or electronic equipment (WEEE), and the restrictive use of certain hazardous substances (RoHS) came into force on the 1st of July 2006.
To fulfil the demands of the RoHS directive Silva is using lead free soldering procedures. The research and development department at Silva has fully embraced the RoHS and WEEE directives and all existing laws and regulations when developing new products to facilitate dismantling, recycling and scrapping of our products.
As a consumer you should not throw electrical or electronic equipment in the rubbish. They should be brought to a recycling centre with controlled recycling. In this way we can work together to create a durable environment for the future.
About WEEE, RoHS and REACH
The WEEE directive (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) sets criteria on collection, handling, recycling and scrapping of waste that consists of or includes electrical or electronic equipment. According to the directive the manufacturer are financially responsible for the major part of the procedures. Private households will be able to return their worn out electrical or electronic equipment free of charge. Silva is a member of Svenska El-kretsen that organizes recycling all across Sweden. (Svenska El-kretsen is a service company created by the Electrical and Electronic Trade Associations in Sweden to practically fulfil the producer responsibility for WEEE).
The RoHS directive (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) regulates recycling of waste from electrical or electronic equipment by limiting the use of: lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium and brominated flame retardants (polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) or polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE).
The REACH directive (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) regulates the use of chemical substances and replaces large parts of the chemical regulations in place before 1 June 2007 in EU and in Sweden. The rules are part of an EG constitution and should therefore be administered by the companies directly and not be translated into Swedish regulations.
